People in Shishi, Southeast China's Fujian province can now take a bus without paying. "The First" Newspaper reports that the local government has decided to run buses in line with the rules of market economy and make 22 buses on five routes free-of-charge, an unprecedented event in China.
What's more, passengers can watch TV and drink tea while on a bus.
To run these free buses, the local government needs to invest 4.6 million yuan or 560,000 US dollars a year. But officials say the majority of the cost will be funded by advertisements.
