Shanghai plans to set up the city's first wild animal rescue and protection center to provide professional medical care for wounded birds and other creatures.
The number of stray wild animals sent to Shanghai Wild Animal Protection and Administration Station has increased in recent years.
But the administration station doesn't have sufficient medical facilities to treat their wounds or enough living space.
The station therefore decided to set up the rescue and protection center, and is expected to open by the end of the year. It will be equipped with veterinary medical and lodging facilities.
