The warm spring in North China will be interrupted today with the arrival of a cold air mass accompanied by sandstorms.

　　The worst sandstorms so far this year hit Gansu Province, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions yesterday.

　　Weather experts say large areas of Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei provinces will experience dust storms in the next two days, as the air temperature drops 5 to 10 degrees.

　　He Lifu, an expert from the China Meteorologic Administration, says that the storms will probably miss Beijing but it will be a bit colder in the capital, with temperatures dropping to 18 degrees or even lower.

　　He says that increasing desertification is the main reason for the frequent sandstorms in North China in recent years.
