[Photo: sina.com]   Feb.11 - Chinese captain Zheng Zhi was praised by fans after his debut in the Premiership, despite the 2-0 loss Charlton conceded to Manchester United on Saturday, CRI reported.

 

The Red Devils eased into an early command at the Old Trafford, despite Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo being sidelined for a heavy cold.

 

South Korean Park Ji-sung headed the ball into the back of Charlton's net from close range in the 24th minute.

 

Charlton manager Alan Pardew sent Zheng Zhi to the pitch in the 40th minute in hopes of an equalizer.

 

Charlton hinted it would turn for the better in the second half, but their hopes were smashed in the 82nd minute when Darren Fletcher headed the winner for the home side.

 

With the win, Man U consolidated their top place in the standing with 66 points, six ahead of Chelsea. Charlton still faces a relegation threat with 20 points at second from the bottom.
