Chinanews, Guangzhou, January 11 – Guangzhou, the host city of the next Asian Games, has drawn up a detailed plan on building the Asian Games Village. The village will be built in Shilou, Fanyu District, with the total investment of some 2 billion yuan.
The village will consist of public area, residential area and international area. Entertainment centers, stores, restaurants, parking lots and parks will be located in the public area. Just as the name implies, the residential area will be the residences of the contestants. It can be guaranteed that there will be at least 15 sq m of private spaces for every contestant. The international area will serve as a communication center for the contestants, where churches, mosques as well as the rear service center will be built.
All the three areas will be linked with highways, bicycle tunnels, and a big pedestrian bridge.
Currently, the plan is under environmental evaluation, and will be carried out before the end of 2009 if everything goes well.
