China defeated Vietnam in straight sets to sail into the semi-finals of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championships in Taicang, Jiangsu Province.

During the quarter-final match between China and Vietnam, hosts China triumphed easily in three straight sets: 25-20, 25-11 and 25-18 on Tuesday afternoon.

Defending champs China fielded a strong team to take on the underdogs Vietnam, who were in last place in the tournament.

Despite the big gap, the Vietnamese fought hard to try to upset the hosts at the start of the match. The Chinese players survived the scare and demonstrated their strength to easily defeat their opponents in the next two sets to wind up the match.
