Chinese Shuttlers Shine at All-England Champs

　　Most Chinese shuttlers reached the final stages at the All-England Championships despite the fall of some title front-runners.

　　In the women’s singles, Olympic champion Zhang Ning and her teammate Xie Xingfang reached the quarter-finals in different fashions.

　　Zhang met some resistance to overcome her Malaysian rival while Xie took only 31 minutes to beat her Japanese opponent.

　　Other two title front-runners: Zhou Mi and Gong Ruina, however, lost their matches.

　　In the doubles, Chinese shuttlers secured half of the spots in the last eight.

　　In the men’s singles, top seed Lin Dan outclassed his opponent in only 27 minutes to reach the quarter-finals. Fourth and fifth seed Chen Hong and Bao Chunlai all entered the last eight. However, the two will have to fight against each other for a spot in the semi-finals.

　　In men’s doubles, two Chinese pairs marched into the quarter-finals to face strong challenges.

　　In the mixed doubles, two-times Olympic champions Zhang Jun/Gao Lin came from behind to defeat their teammates to reach the last eight, while Chen Qiqiu/Zhao Tingting also ousted their opponents. Both pairs will take on tougher rivals in the quarter-finals.
