笔者对2002年6月全国大学英语四级考试试题的Vocabulary and Structure部分作了简单分析，发现词义辨析题明显增加。30个选题中，考词汇的占了近60％。笔者翻阅了往届的四级全真试题，此部分60％为语法和句子结构试题，考词汇的就占了40％左右，由此可见，考生今后的方向应加强词汇学习，扩大词汇量，牢记一些易混词的含义和用法是非常必要的。
此次试题中的17个词汇辨析题并非无聊的同义词辨析游戏，它们当中大部分词义并不相关，主要考查考生的词汇量。下面让我们一起来分析一下这些词汇。（试题序号为原试卷序号）

正确答案为D，四个选项都有“看”的意思，但含义不同。A观察B忽略C看一眼（通常作不及物动词，和at一起用）D略读，快读。

B．sustain
C．retain
D．reserve
正确答案为D。四个选项的意思分别为：A保护，保藏B支持，支撑C保持D预定。这句话的意思是要预定五个人的餐位，只有D对。
46.The European Union countries were once worried that they would not have _______ supplies of petroleum．
A．sufficient
B．proficient
C．efficient
D．potential
正确答案为A。本题属于易混型。根据四个词的意思作出判断，A足够的B精通的，熟练的C有效的D潜在的，有可能性的。只有选A才能构成合理的句子。

A．attaching
B．affording
C．running
D．omitting
正确答案为C。此题为动词短语搭配。to run a risk意思是“冒险”。其它三个不可。

正确答案为A。介词短语to one's relief意思为“让某人松口气”。其它三个词的意思不合逻辑。B判断C观点D焦急，担忧。

正确答案为D。四个选项意思分别为A独一无二的B特殊的，特别的，奇特的C稀有的，罕见的D奇怪的，不可思议的。

正确答案为B。四个选词的意义为：A鼓舞，引起B鼓舞，激励C提高，提升D加强，增援。其中C、的D的意思不合逻辑，可首先排除。A“spark”通常不能跟不定式作宾补。因此只有B正确。
