10月9日，全国社会保障基金理事会与美国北美信托银行和花旗银行签署了社保基金境外投资全球托管协议。成立于2000年的社保基金理事会，主要负责管理大部分国有企业的养老金，截至2005年底，其资产总额已达到2010.2亿元人民币。

　　报道中，“pension”指的是“养老金”，也可做动词“pension off”（发给……养老金使退休），如：They pensioned him off when they found a younger man for the job.（因找到了一名较为年轻的雇员，他们就给他发了养老金让他退休了。）

　　另外，社保基金可用“Social Security Fund”来表达，而“养老保险金”相应的英文是“endowment insurance”。日常所说的“三险一金”，即medical care insurance（医疗保险）；endowment insurance（养老保险）；unemployment insurance（失业保险）；housing fund（住房公积金）。
