As the chart above shows, the trend(趋势) of Chinese traveling abroad is going up these years. In the past few years, the number of Chinese traveling abroad was rising steadily. According to the chart, the number increases from 10 million in 2001 to 11.5 million in 2002 and to 14 million in 2004.


I think there are four reasons for the great changes. First, with the development of the economy Chinese people have become richer so that they can afford to travel abroad. Meanwhile, these years people have more holidays, such as May Day and National Day, which are long enough for people to make a journey abroad. What’s more, the travel industry in China has also developed rapidly. More and more travel agencies are encouraging people to join in their tours abroad. Last but not the least, it is our policy of opening-up that makes it possible for people to travel abroad.
In a word, it is obvious that the increase of the number of Chinese traveling abroad reflects the improvement of our living standards and the development of our economy.
