A think不表示征求意见或发表意见时，可用进行时态：

—What are you thinking about？

—I’m thinking about the play we saw last night．

—你在想什么？

—我正在想昨晚我们看的戏。

但是：

—What do you think of it？

—I don’t think much of it．

—你觉得怎么样？（征求意见）

—我认为不怎么好。（表示意见）

—Tom is thinking of emigrating．What do you think of the idea？

—I think it is a stupid idea． He should stay where he is．

—汤姆正在考虑移居国外。你认为这主意怎么样？

—我看这主意很蠢。他应该留在原地。

B assume意为以某种说法为出发点时可用进行时态：

I’m assuming that you have time to do a lot of research．

我姑且认为你有时间进行大量的研究工作。

assume意为接过权力／掌管一个国家或组织时也可用进行时态：

The new government is assuming power at once．

新政府将立即掌握政权。

C expect意指等待时也用进行时态：

I’m expecting a letter．

我今天在等一封信。

She’s expecting a baby in May．

她预期在5月份分娩。
